Death Note

Hello dear, dear otakus!

It's been a long time, hasn't it? Well... for that same reason, I decided to post a short entry
about the series, Death Note.

Death Note is right now one of the most popular anime and manga series in Japan. I have been watching through fansubs, and it's really addictive. What can I say? It reminds me of one of my best friends! I won't give you much detail on that, though.

Description of the series, according to the Anime News Network...

Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). with the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.

Where can you watch the anime? Well, as far as I know, the series has recently been licensed for America, so it will probably air on Adult Swim or some other channel this year. The problem with this is that all the fansubbers have stopped working on Death Note, so if you prefer to watch fansubs instead, it will be really hard for you to find them after episode 30. I have that same problem.

One of the places where you can download Death Note is at Anime Corner. The owner of this website uploads the episodes to Rapidshare in .rm format. But note that she has the series on hold now, and that you need RealPlayer to play the files. Even so, I recommend you get them from here. Videos in .rm format are compressed and will not need as much space in your hard-drive as other better-known formats.

I am ending this entry with a pretty funny fan comic strip found at DeviantArt. It's about Death Note, as you will notice. Enjoy!

About YAAOG!

Welcome, fellow readers!

As you sure imagined, this is an Anime and Manga blog. Mostly an Anime blog. And as you also imagined, it's written by a lady.
If you're here, it's probably because the blog's title attracted your attention. And why did it attract your attention? Because it's about Anime! That will make me guess that you like anime. Am I right?

But anyway!

I opened this blog with the purpose of writing about anime and manga from the point of view of a girl. Although, I must admit, not from a 'typical' girl, for I am no ordinary girl. It is written from the point of view of a female anime and fantasy freak who loves art, internet, literature and computers, and that is also a tree hugger and a cat addict. Yup! That's me!

My reasons for opening this blog are several. First of all, I always wanted to have a blog in which I could talk exclusively about anime and manga, and express my great addic- erm, love for this wonderful style and genre of art that began in Japan.
Another reason is to educate people about what truly is anime and leave all the stereotypes apart. So many people misjudge anime and the people who watch it, and I hope that, with this blog, I can help them understand how wrong they are. Perhaps then they will begin to appreciate the genre, and even love it!
Two of the main stereotypes I want to get rid of the most, as you imagine, are the "Anime is just for boys!" and the "Anime is equal to cartoon pornography!" Definitely NOT TRUE. There is anime for ALL AGES AND GENDERS, and all types of people as well. This is a great misunderstanding I wish to clarify.

You probably wish to learn a bit more about me, as I am the author of this blog, so next time I post, I'll introduce myself and narrate my story as "anime otaku girl", how I became one, and what I like most about anime and manga.

I will also be changing the look of this blog and adding many new features... such as polls, featured anime scene, featured anime character, useful links, and more! So please keep coming, okay? Meanwhile, you can take a look at the other anime blogs in the "Anime Blogroll" menu to the right, and have fun!

Until then, see ya!

Sincrely,
Jessica M. Vázquez, AKA Arwym Starlight
